For some reason the Gainesville Sun has dropped the anouncement of
our milonga from the weekly calendar. Just so everybody knows:
we're still going strong. In fact we haven't missed a week since
our inception (except once because of preemption).
This Sunday look forward to a brief note about dance
ettiquette. The beginners class will cover molinette. The
intermediate class will briefly review last weeks' material and then
will cover ccw molinette beginning from step 2 and ending with lapiz
and parada, with some attention to optionf for the ladies'
embellishments.
The Milonga is as scheduled:
7:45pm-8:45pm: combined special lesson for beginning and
intermediate dancers by Chut, Thuy and David
8:45pm-11:30pm: general dancing.
Location: Unified Training Center, at the corner of sw 8th street
and University
Admission fee: usd 10.00 or 5.00 with valid student ID, paid
at the door--refreshment and sweets included
Those who don't wish to take the lessons
can come anytime, there is plenty of room to dance without
interfering w/ the lessons.
-Chut
and Thuy
return with goodies from Buenos Aires
Hostesses Chut and Thuy returned from Buenos Aires with beautiful
new shoes and a small treasure trove of insights into what good tango
dancing consists of. For example, not only are they doing
traspié perfectly without effort, they also showed me (David)
how to do it WITH them! (Before, I thought I knew how to do
it, but I didn't really) This means a whole new level of
creativity and fun has opened up!
-Ken
and Cathy perform
tango in showcase, Oct 21
Our own Ken and Cathy are preparing a tango routine for
the yearly October showcase at the
Emperial ballroom studio. They are also dancing
routines in West Coast, Rumba, Hustle, and Waltz. The same
night, another one of our minongueras, Kelli will be performing a
Cha-cha.
