-Sunday's Milonga
Last Sunday's Milonga was attended by two out-of-town dancers. This
is how we keep going, even though we miss our Dr. Ken. Dr. Ken, if you are
reading your email during your vacation in France, we miss you! Especially
for Ken and Cathy, I put up a picture on our website of last
Sunday's intermediate class. See:
http://www.tangoyte.com/milonga.htm
The Sunday Milonga will be on as scheduled:
7:45pm-8:45pm: lesson for intermediate dancers w/ Jan and for
beginners w/ Chut and David
8:45pm-11:30pm: general dancing.
Location: Unified Training Center, at the corner of sw 8th street and
University
Admission fee: usd 10.00 paid at the door--refreshment and sweets
included
Those who don't wish to take the lessons can come
anytime, there is plenty of room to dance without interfering w/ the
lessons.
-Registration for
Leia's "Mission to Gainesville" open!
Complete registration information for Leia's workshops is now avaiable at
http://www.tangoyte.com/schedule.htm .
Note that there are also plenty of day-time hours still open for private
lessons with Leia.
Note: we are introducing a special "catchup class" at the start of
weekend #2, for people who have to miss the first weekend. We are doing
this in order to accomodate people from Tallahassee planning to attend, as they
have their own 2-weekends long workshops partially overlapping with our visti
from Leia (see news item below.)
-Blog: Henk's Last Tango in Gainesville
Our first installment of the MOTS blog is now
completed, with the result of Henk's 4th week shown in the last video
clip. Read some good observations and discussion
Jan tells us that Henk now has all the basic
elements that are necessary to go out and dance. All that is needed now
is: practice! We are looking forward to Henk's report
back to us after he goes and explores the milongas in Amsterdam. I will
conclude this news item with an intriguing quote from Henk's final
post:
"Having a good posture, and then making the moves that belong
with that posture, that is what's important. The thought occurs to me: maybe
you could start with just standing??"
-Tallahassee Tango Exchange
3 of us will be traveling to Tallahassee on Saturday
June 10, to attend a part of Alberto and Valorie's workshops on "musicality and
floorcraft." See the website of the Tallahassee Tango Society:
http://www.tangotallahassee.com/ for information.
Please Contact us if you are interested in carpooling for this
occasion. We are looking forward to the opportunity to finally meet
Tallahassee's long time itinerant teachers from New Orleans.
Several of the lovely people from
Tallahassee will be similarly broadening their horizons by attending
Leia's second weekend of workshops.
