Misunderstandings

The following instruction of how to walk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZzzdtzaJpo --is how many of us were taught when we started--including myself. However, it stands in direct contradiction, in all it's details, to classical tango walking.
-it shows bending the knees before moving, instead of moving first on top of a straight leg and then, optionally, bending the supporting knee
-moving the leg before moving  the body, instead of letting the movement of the body cause the movement of the leg
-forcing the ankles together to "collect the feet" instead of relaxing the ankle and letting the foot swing through
Is it any wonder that when they get together, people are not happy about the way the other dances? These two ways of walking can NOT be combined in one movement.
